Scholarships


Auburn/Gresham Park Educational Scholarships

 

The Sallie Davis-Brewer Foundation offers scholarships annually to current African American college students and graduating high school seniors in the Auburn/Gresham Park area of the Southside of Chicago.  Auburn/Gresham Park area of the Southside of Chicago is bound by the Belt Railway line (about 7500 south) on the north, the Baltimore & Ohio tracks (about 2200 west) on the west, Stewart and Parnell Avenues on the east, and 89th and 91st Streets on the south.

 

  • The purpose of the Foundation’s scholarships is to help meet the cost of college education (tuition, room/board, and book costs) for students who desire to pursue a bachelor degree at an accredited college or university. 


  •  Each potential honoree must submit an application in the spring of the year in which the scholarship will be given, detailing grade point average (in high school or college, whichever is appropriate), educational plans, community service, need, and how he or she exemplifies the character of the woman in which the Foundation is named. 


  •  There is no charge for submitting an application for a scholarship. 


  • Each scholarship recipient must submit proof of college registration (for example, course schedule and/or college bill) before funds are disbursed.  Upon proof of college registration, a check will be mailed to the scholarship recipient



Educational Scholarships

  • The purpose of the Foundation’s scholarships is to help meet the cost of college education (tuition, room/board, and bookcosts) for students who desire to pursue a bachelor degree at an accredited college or university.


  • Each potential honoree must submit an application in the spring of the year in which the scholarship will be given, detailing grade point average (in high school or college, whichever is appropriate), educational plans, community service, need, and how he or she exemplifies the character of the woman in which the Foundation is named. 


  • There is no charge for submitting an application for a scholarship.

Lawrence University Book Scholarships

 

The Sallie Davis-Brewer Foundation has been offering books scholarships since 2012 to current African American students attending Lawrence University at Appleton Wisconsin and who lived in the Chicago land area during their high school years.

 

  • The purpose of the Foundation’s scholarships is to help meet the cost of books for students who desire to pursue a bachelor degree at Lawrence University.


  • Book awards are announced at the Foundation’s Annual Benefit. 


  • Each potential honoree must submit an application in the spring of the year in which the scholarship will be given, detailing grade point average (in high school or college, whichever is appropriate), educational plans, community service, need, and how he or she exemplifies the character of the woman in which the Foundation is named.
